Executive burnt alive on New Year’s day; 5 held

Five persons,aged between 19 and 24,have been arrested for allegedly burning alive a young executive in the early hours of January 1 in Southeast Delhi’s Ambedkar Nagar.

Five persons,aged between 19 and 24,have been arrested for allegedly burning alive a young executive in the early hours of January 1 in Southeast Delhi’s Ambedkar Nagar.

The victim was reportedly in a relationship with the sister of one of the accused,who was against it. According to the police,the victim had gone to a New Year party that day.

The police said the body of Vaibhav Mishra (28),a territorial manager with Reliance Communication who hailed from Baroli in UP,and his motorcycle,were found in Dakshinpuri.

“Mishra was having an affair with the sister of one Surender,” said O P Mishra,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast).

During the probe,the police came to know that Mishra had come to attend a party at 11.45 pm on December 31 in Dakshinpuri. When he left,he was overpowered by the accused,taken to a secluded spot and beaten up. They then poured petrol on him and set him and the motorcycle on fire.

“We rounded up Surender (22),who confessed to the crime,” a police official said. The other accused have been identified as Rajiv (24),Anand Prakash (20),Anil (19) and Rahul (21).
