Police registered a case of assault against former Congress MLA Jai Kishan for allegedly assaulting several students in his school for participating in a talent competition even after being denied permission to do so. Joint Commissioner of Police (Northern Range) R S Krishnia said, “We have registered a case under sections 323 (assault) and 341 (wrongful confinement) of the IPC against Jai Kishan. We are looking into the allegations of parents and students. Investigations are on.” Police said the former MLA from Sultanpur Majra, who is also the proprietor of R D Public School, beat up 25 students studying in Class IX, X, XI and XII on Friday morning. According to police, Jai Kishan asked the students to queue up in the assembly hall and slapped them. He also punched a teacher who tried to stop him. The students, police said, had participated in ‘India’s Got Talent’ show in Hyderabad despite the school denying them permission to do so. After the incident, the students complained to their parents who staged a protest outside the school on Friday, police said. The parents then went to Sultanpuri police station and protested outside till police registered a case against Kishan and arrested him. The parents and students claimed that they had gone to Hyderabad with a music teacher on their own and had footed the expenses themselves. When the students returned to school on Friday, Kishan allegedly lost his cool and assaulted them, police said. Jai Kishan, a three-time MLA who lost to the AAP’s Sandeep Kumar on February 10, was not available for comment. Rape case against ex-MLA: Police A case of rape was registered against former Congress MLA from Matiala in Southwest Delhi’s Dwarka on Wednesday. Police said a 32-year-old woman filed a complaint alleging the MLA had sexually assaulted her when she went to him to ask for donation for a community function. He is yet to be arrested. ens
