Weeks after shifting to Noida, engineer riding bike taxi dies in hit-and-run
According to the police, a speeding, unidentified vehicle rammed into the bike taxi around 7.30 pm, leaving Borah with multiple injuries, including a critical head injury

Ankur Bikash Borah (29), an engineer at a multinational firm, had shifted from Bengaluru to Noida about six weeks ago after being promoted as the senior application engineer. He was still getting a hang of the city and the routine and was yet to shift from a hotel to a home.
On Tuesday, after wrapping up the day from work, Borah, a native of Assam, left for his stay on a bike taxi. But it turned out to be his last ride. He died in a hit-and-run accident.
According to the police, a speeding, unidentified vehicle rammed into the bike taxi around 7.30 pm, leaving Borah with multiple injuries, including a critical head injury, partly attributed to the low-quality helmet he was wearing.
A passerby alerted the police, and the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Moments after the crash, Borah had reportedly managed to call his younger brother in Bengaluru, telling him that he was in severe pain before the call was cut off. But he could not survive the injuries and died later that night.
The driver of the two-wheeler, Vijendra Kumar (35) sustained injuries but has been discharged after treatment, said an officer.
The police said they would register a formal case once a complaint is received from the family. Officers also said that the matter can be further investigated only if the car is identified.
Borah’s last rites were performed in his hometown in Assam on Thursday. He is survived by his parents and a younger brother.
