The data shared by the Election Commission last week showed that the AAP’s win in the Punjab Assembly polls in March 2022 drew in a big amount of donations for the party. In the whole of 2021, the party received only Rs 1.85 crore through electoral bonds. Ahead of the Punjab Assembly polls held in February 2022, it received Rs 3.4 crore in January (2022). After winning the elections, the party got Rs 44.45 crore by redeeming 126 electoral bonds in three months — October, November and December — in 2022.
