EC notice to Delhi BJP for ‘derogatory’ posts on Kejriwal

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had on November 16 submitted a complaint to the EC about the Delhi BJP’s posts that it said were an “ugly attempt to tarnish the image” of Kejriwal. The content in question included a video caricaturing Kejriwal and making allegations of corruption while depicting a day in the life of the AAP national convenor.

“The BJP is trying to tarnish the image of our party and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by posting ridiculous content on social media. They are trying to do character assassination. We have appealed to the Election Commission to take action against the BJP,” AAP MP Raghav Chadha told the media after filing the complaint.

“There must be some decorum even in politics. My request to the BJP would be to stop the character assassination of people. If you want to fight Kejriwal, then fight in the election field. We have explained in detail in the complaint,” Chadha added.

Earlier, the EC had issued a show-cause notice to Kejriwal on November 14 for alleged derogatory posts on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the AAP handle. The AAP had posted a similar video caricaturing the Prime Minister and alleging that he worked for businessman Gautam Adani. The poll panel is yet to announce any action in that matter.
