The Dutch trio Agog brought an evening of contemporary European jazz to the Capital. But it sounded more than a gig by a threesome. The guitarist Frank Wingold, the drummer Joost Lijbaart and the bassist Mark Haanstra turned it into something orchestral. “Our aim is to sound big. While some do it the electronic way through loops,we have an orchestral approach where we try and play more parts,” says Haanstra. Started in 2001,Agog brings together various influences, including classical guitar, rock and electronic,Brit pop elements and even Indian classical sounds. The last because Haanstra has studied Carnatic music and even collaborated with Bangalore-based mridangam player B.C Manjunath in

the past.
