Drive against illegal ads from tomorrow

Non-compliance with the public notice could lead to an FIR.

North Delhi Municipal Corporation has issued a public notice, setting a deadline of three days to dismantle and remove any form of illegal and unauthorised advertisements as part of a planned zero-tolerance policy against such displays.

The notice addresses general public, advertisers and permission holders, occupants of buildings, government departments, residents’ associations and market associations. They have been told to “dismantle and remove all illegal and unauthorised displays, signages, rooftop hoardings, uni-poles, display boards and posters within a period of three days”.

Non-compliance with the public notice could lead to an FIR under the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007 that forbids advertisement without requisite permissions from corporation officials.

The campaign will formally commence on Thursday. “Once started, this will be a regular process,” deputy commissioner, advertisement, at North DMC said.

The municipal body has also announced a 12-point strategy to achieve this objective.
