For Mumbai-based designer Rocky S,a wardrobe daubed in fuschia,orange,pink,green,and red is the fashion mantra to please the rain gods. “Monsoon is all about going minimalistic and following the ‘comfort first’ style statement”,says Rocky as he explains why fabrics like poly-nylon and cotton are ideal for the season.

A walk in the rain guarantees a foot in the puddle. In that case drowning your feet in style could be the saving grace. The malls are flooded with a variety of flip-flops to serve the casual and the chic mood. Pumps in patent leather give you a glamourous edge and are easier to maintain in the rains because of their swipe-it-clean texture. Water-resistant watches are bare essentials and work as a style-cum-utility accessory if chosen in bright hues and quirky designs. For war paint addicts,there’s no need to skimp on make-up since a variety of water-proof make-up is widely available. Go for innovative products like multipurpose rouge-lip tints that assure an ‘un-smudged’ look.

An umbrella is mandatory to complete your look,but not at the cost of style. Basic black and usual florals are a passé. Check out the malls,emporiums and Dilli Haat for umbrellas in graphic prints,worli paintings,tribal art and Japanese anime.
