District court lawyers to strike work tomorrow

Lawyers practising in the district courts in the city will strike work on Monday to protest against the Delhi government’s decision to increase the number of revenue districts from 9 to 11.

Lawyers practising in the district courts in the city will strike work on Monday to protest against the Delhi government’s decision to increase the number of revenue districts from 9 to 11.

The creation of new districts implies that new courts will have to be formed to deal with cases in these districts.

The coordination committee of the All District Bar Associations of Delhi has condemned the move saying heavy expenditure would be incurred to create new courts and appoint more officials.

“First, the government increases court fee using the excuse of a burdened exchequer, now, they take a decision which will increase expenditure by creating more courts,” R N Vats, president of the coordination committee, said.
