To help persons with disabilities, Safdarjung Hospital opens a new registration counter

To help persons with disabilities easily navigate the registration process, Safdarjung Hospital has inaugurated a new registration counter in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) outpatient department.

Hospital officials said the new counter will streamline the registration process for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), ensuring they receive prompt attention and specialised care without having to navigate through the general registration system. “This patient-centric approach aims to reduce waiting time and physical strain for individuals with mobility challenges and other disabilities,” an official said.

At this counter, patients will also be provided with wheelchair-accessible signage and directions for easy navigation.

The hospital’s medical superintendent, Dr Vandana Talwar, said staff has been trained on the needs of persons with disabilities and will assist them on priority and expedite the registration process. “This initiative is part of Safdarjung Hospital’s ongoing efforts to enhance its infrastructure and services to better serve all segments of society, particularly those with special needs,” she said,

According to Dr Ajay Gupta, head of the PMR department, they see around 500 patients daily with a substantial number of patients being those with disabilities. “This facility will ensure they receive the attention and care they deserve right from the moment they enter our OPD,” he said.
