The Delhi Police Special Cell has issued a notice to gangster Guddu Muslim, a close associate of deceased don Atiq Ahmed. Police said the case is related to an Arms Act case lodged against Guddu this March.

Guddu, an accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, is still on the run while other accused have been caught or killed in encounters. The Delhi Police said their probe isn’t related to the Umesh Pal case.

The notice was found outside his home in Prayagraj, and officers in Delhi said they are not arresting him at present and have only called him for questioning.

Sources said a notice was sent to another gangster Mustaq, a close associate of Guddu who allegedly helped Atiq’s son Asad in Delhi. Asad was killed in an encounter in Jhansi last month.

The notices have been sent under section 41A of CrPC and the accused have been asked to appear before the Special Cell in Delhi. The notice states, “You will not commit any offence in the future…you will not tamper with any evidence…you will not make any threat, inducement or promise to any person acquainted with the facts of the case.”

“We had arrested an arms supplier who gave 10 weapons to gangsters who sheltered Atiq’s son Asad and his associate in Delhi’s Sangam Vihar. The accused Avtar Singh and Javed were interrogated. They revealed their links with Atiq’s associates and named Guddu and Mustaq. We have sent them notices. It is part of the investigation in the Arms Act case,” said an officer.

Though Guddu’s family was questioned, they claimed not to know his location and that they haven’t been in touch with him.
