The Delhi Police Monday apprehended three minors in connection with an arson attack following a midnight brawl in Shahdara earlier this month.

Prashant Gautam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Shahdara, said the incident occurred at around 2.30 am on November 6. “A quarrel broke out among two groups of boys at Gajju Katra at midnight over some minor issues. Fuelled by the altercation, some of them returned later that night and set fire to multiple vehicles parked near Chand Tara Masjid,” said Gautam, adding that two Activa scooters and two motorcycles were destroyed in the blaze.

The police registered a case under sections 126(F) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and a team comprising Sub-Inspector Tinku, Head Constable Saurav Malik, and Constable Pankaj was formed under the command of Inspector Amul Tyagi, SHO, Farsh Bazar), and the supervision of Vijay Kumar (ACP Shahdara), was formed to investigate the matter.

Through their investigation and analysis of CCTV footage, the police identified and apprehended the three minors, all aged between 15 and 17.

“During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the crime, stating that they were motivated by revenge due to a previous altercation. After completing all necessary legal procedures, they were handed over to their families,” said Gautam.
