Delhi News: NHAI projects worth Rs 35,000 crore ongoing in Delhi, says CM Gupta after meeting Nitin Gadkari

Days after the BJP government celebrated its 100 days in office, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, and the duo reviewed the progress of ongoing NHAI projects in the national capital. “NHAI projects worth Rs 35,000 crore are ongoing in Delhi. Work to build a 7-kilometre underground tunnel from Shiv Murti to Nelson Mandela Road is underway. Work on the construction of an elevated road from INA to the Indira Gandhi International Airport is going on,” Gupta said after the meeting.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for the Capital city today, with a warning of possible thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching up to 50 kmph in the region. Delhi is also likely to witness generally cloudy skies with light rain or thunderstorm over the week, the IMD said. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 24.7 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

ACB summons Sisodia, Jain in case linked to construction of classrooms: The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of Delhi government on Tuesday issued summonses to former AAP ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain over alleged corruption to the tune of Rs 2,000 crore in the construction of classrooms in government schools when their party was in power. While Jain has been summoned to the ACB office on June 6, Sisodia has been asked to appear on June 9.

Delhi News Live Updates: Yamuna clean-up op | Delhi govt to map drains, plug sewage leaks

As part of its plan to clean the Yamuna, the BJP Delhi government is planning to hire an agency to survey each drain that is not connected to the treatment system. Based on the findings, drains will be trapped to curb the flow of untreated water into the river, said officials.

According to officials, the government is also planning to reach out to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to assess the output of wastewater being released from all Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in the future.

Cleaning the Yamuna and making it pollution-free is one of the top priorities of the BJP government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have held meetings in this regard in the past two months.

Send beer samples every month for analysis: Delhi Excise dept to hotels, restaurants with microbreweries

The Excise Department in Delhi has directed hotels, cafes, and restaurants, which hold the L-11 licence, to share beer samples every month for analysis in the department’s laboratory.

The L-11 licence grants permission to hotels, cafes, and restaurants to set up microbrewery plants and sell them at their premises. At present, there are around half a dozen such plants in Delhi in Saket, Connaught Place, among other places.

“As per the terms and conditions of the L-11 license, the beer produced in the microbrewery shall be released for sale only after the said chemist certifies that such beer is fit for human consumption daily,” said the Excise Department in an official order, adding, “Further, the licensee shall arrange to draw the beer samples once in every month and forward the same to the excise laboratory for analysis.”
