A Mahindra Thar crashed through the glass wall of a showroom in east Delhi’s Preet Vihar on Monday evening, shortly after being purchased. The car, parked on the first floor, suddenly darted forward during delivery and plunged to the ground. Inside were the owner Pradeep, his wife Maani Pawar, and salesman Vikas, who was explaining the car’s features. No one was injured, and no complaint was filed. Delhi News Live Updates: A four-storey building collapsed in the national capital’s Subzi Mandi area. No injuries have been reported in the incident, as the MCD had already declared the structure unsafe, an official of the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said. The official said that the building was vacant at the time of the collapse. The DFS received a call regarding the collapse at 3:05 am, following which five fire tenders were rushed to the spot. “Since the building had already been declared dangerous by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), it was vacant,” the official said. According to the fire officials, 14 people stranded in the adjoining structure were rescued by fire personnel during the operation.
IMD predicts thunderstorms, rain: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms with rain for the national capital on Tuesday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures expected to settle around 35 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively. On Monday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius, 2.1 degrees above the season’s average. Relative humidity oscillated between 87 per cent and 57 per cent during the day.
With rains slowing upstream, the water levels of the Yamuna River in Delhi, which had been flowing above the danger mark for a week, also fell, as of early Monday. Even as the water receded, large parts of the Yamuna floodplains remained submerged. Hundreds of people have been evacuated from their homes in the floodplain over the past week and are living in camps set up by the government.
A first-year MBA student was killed and another injured when one of them shot the other before turning the gun on himself at a private college’s hostel in Greater Noida on Tuesday, the police said.
The police identified the deceased student as Deepak Kumar, 22, a native of Andhra Pradesh, and the injured student as Devansh Chauhan, 23, who hails from Agra. Devansh has been admitted to a hospital.

A bomb threat email was received on Tuesday morning targeting the Delhi Chief Minister’s Secretariat and Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), triggering an immediate multi-agency security response.
Police said the message warned of possible detonations at both locations, prompting authorities to launch searches and deploy specialised teams.

Five people sustained minor injuries after an air conditioner compressor exploded at a pizza outlet in northeast Delhi's Yamuna Vihar, an official of the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said on Tuesday.
A call regarding the blast was received at 8.55 pm on Monday from a building comprising a basement, ground floor and two upper floors, they said.
"Three fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot. Five people who suffered minor injuries were taken to a nearby hospital and later discharged after treatment," a DFS official said.
The cause of the blast is being ascertained, officials added.

The water level of the Yamuna river in Delhi, on Tuesday, was recorded at 204.96 metres at 6 am and was inching towards the warning mark of 204.50 metres, news agency PTI reported citing officials.
Delhi is likely to witness a generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle on Tuesday, the weather office said.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 25 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year, while the maximum is expected to settle around 35 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
At 8.30 am, the relative humidity stood at 77 per cent.
Delhi's air quality index (AQI) was in the moderate category with a reading of 104 at 9 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 to 100 "satisfactory", 101 to 200 "moderate", 201 to 300 "poor", 301 to 400 "very poor" and 401 to 500 "severe".

According to the DFS, a call regarding the incident was received at 3.05 am, following which five fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The building, located in a congested lane of Punjabi Basti, came crashing down with a loud noise.
"Since the building had already been declared dangerous by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), it was vacant," he said.
Fire officials said 14 people stranded in the adjoining structure were rescued by fire personnel during the operation.

The national capital on Monday recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius, 2.1 degrees above the season's average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The minimum temperature settled at 23.9 degrees Celsius, 1.7 degrees below the season's average, the IMD said.
The IMD has predicted thunderstorms with rain for the city on Tuesday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures expected to settle around 35 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively. Weather conditions over the Delhi NCR region remained largely dry on Monday, and no rainfall was recorded in the city in the past 24 hours. (PTI)
Two men have been arrested for breaking into a locked house and stealing valuable gold jewellery and more than Rs 1.5 lakh in cash in East Delhi's Mayur Vihar, an official said on Monday.
The incident took place in the early hours of September 3 when burglars broke into a locked house in Pocket-1, Mayur Vihar Phase-I, he said.
The family, which had left for Haridwar the previous night, was alerted by a neighbour in the morning that their house had been broken into.
When they returned, they found the house ransacked and valuables missing. A case was registered under relevant sections of the BNS and an investigation was taken up.
"The team scanned more than 50 CCTV cameras, tracked the escape route of the burglars for over 10 km and developed intelligence through technical surveillance and informers. Based on these leads, one accused, Rashid alias Ashif, a resident of Kalyanpuri and a school dropout, was apprehended," Dhania said. (PTI)
Four men have been arrested for allegedly killing two friends in northeast Delhi's Pratap Nagar, police said on Monday. On September 5, two men — Sudhir alias Bunty (35) and Radhey Prajapati (30) — were shot at by unidentified assailants in C-Block, Pratap Nagar. Both victims later succumbed to their injuries during treatment at GTB Hospital, police said.
"The accused were identified as Chetanya Tomar alias Tashu Tomar (18), Pradeep Bhati (22), Pawan Bhati alias Dagga (24) and Pramod (25), all residents of Anoop Vihar in Uttar Pradesh except Tomar, who lives in Harsh Vihar,” a senior police officer said.
A case under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (joint liability) of the BNS and relevant provisions of the Arms Act was registered, and multiple teams were constituted to investigate the case, the officer added.
Forensic teams examined the crime scene and collected crucial evidence. The teams developed intelligence from various sources and tracked down four suspects involved in the crime.
From their possession, police recovered one semi-automatic pistol, a country-made pistol (katta) with a live cartridge and two motorcycles, including one without a number plate, allegedly used in the commission of the crime. (PTI)
A 26-year-old man accused of supplying mule bank accounts across the country for laundering money has been arrested in connection with an online trading scam in which a Delhi resident was duped of over Rs 24 lakh, police said on Monday.
The accused, identified as Satyam Kulshretha alias Sam, a resident of Agra, was nabbed from Sector 11 in Gurugram after a sustained technical surveillance operation, they said.
Satyam is a graduate with a B.Sc. degree from Agra University.
"Analysis of his phones revealed chats with more than 50 agents across India engaged in procuring mule bank accounts. Police believe he acted as a key link in a larger network that facilitated online scams by providing a constant supply of accounts for laundering funds," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam said.
After suffering losses in a tiffin service business, Sam allegedly began supplying mule accounts to online scammers. He was introduced to the operation by a school friend, Kunal, and soon created social media profiles under the fake name Sam, posing as a representative of a Chinese online gaming company. (PTI)
Police in Greater Noida seized nearly 1,500 kilograms of firecracker material from an illegal factory in Dadri and arrested three persons in connection with the case, officials said on Monday.
The factory, being run out of an under-construction house in Bodaki village under Dadri Police Station limits, was unearthed during a joint operation by local police and intelligence teams, they said.
ADCP (Greater Noida) Sudheer Kumar told PTI, "On Monday, Dadri police and local intelligence exposed an illegal firecracker factory being operated in Bodaki village. Three persons were arrested from the spot." The arrested men have been identified as Ram Lakhan (33) and Azad (20), both residents of Ghaziabad, and Rajendra (19), a resident of Bahraich district in Uttar Pradesh, the police said. (PTI)
A couple, along with their daughter and pet died after an air conditioner (AC) compressor exploded in their house here on Monday morning, police said.
Police suspect that a short-circuit caused a fire in the AC due to which it exploded.
The couple's son survived the blast by jumping from the balcony. He sustained fractures to his legs and is undergoing treatment a hospital.
The incident occurred at the Green Field Colony here around 3.30 am when the family was asleep. They resided on the second floor of a rented four-storey building, a senior police officer said. (PTI)
Delhi Police has frozen assets worth over Rs 30 lakh of a drug offender as part of intensified action against a narcotics trafficker, an official said on Monday.
The accused, Vijay Kumar, a resident of JJ Colony in Wazirpur, has been declared a 'bad character' by Bharat Nagar police station and is facing more than 11 criminal cases, including five under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Bhisham Singh said.
The Operation Cell of the district identified three two-wheelers and one immovable property linked to Kumar's drug dealings. The assets, suspected to have been purchased from drug money, were valued at over Rs 30 lakh and have been frozen under Section 68-F(1) of the NDPS Act. (PTI)
A 24-year-old man was injured after being shot at by two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants in Delhi's New Usmanpur area, police said on Monday.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening when the victim, identified as Abdul Wahid, was returning home on a scooter along with his cousins after closing his shop in Gandhi Nagar, they said.
According to the police, Wahid, a resident of Jagjit Nagar, was riding the scooter with his cousins Kalam (24) and Zahid (13) when two men approached them near 2nd Pushta.
"The assailants allegedly opened fire at him with a pistol before fleeing the scene. After the gunshot, Wahid's family members rushed him to the JPC Hospital, where his condition was said to be stable," said the police officer.
Based on the complaint, a case of attempt to murder has been registered, and further investigation into the matter is underway, the police mentioned. (PTI)
A woman was among the two individuals arrested for allegedly stealing mobile phones. A total of 82 stolen and snatched mobile phones were recovered from their possession in the Neb Sarai area, an official said on Monday.
The accused were identified as Faiyaz (28) and a 31-year-old woman, police said, adding that efforts are underway to arrest the main accused, identified as Mustaq alias Bunty.
According to the police, during surveillance in the Gandhi Nagar area, a suspect, identified as Ajay, was apprehended, who revealed that his SIM card was being used by Faiyaz.
"Subsequently, a police team raided Gandhi Nagar, where Faiyaz was apprehended. At his instance, 25 stolen mobile phones were recovered. During sustained questioning, Faiyaz disclosed that he, along with his brother-in-law, Mustaq and his sister, used to purchase stolen phones in bulk," a police officer stated. The police then raided Mustaq's residence, where he was found to be absconding. However, they recovered an additional 57 mobile phones from his wife's possession, the officer added. In total, 82 stolen mobile phones were seized, and 16 cases across Delhi-NCR were resolved, police said. (PTI)

The notice was approved by the Delhi Police Commissioner.

Two boys drowned in the Haiderpur Canal in Northwest Delhi on Sunday evening while out for a swim, police said.
According to police, the boys, Aniket (9) and Krishan Kumar (13), lived in a jhuggi cluster near the Ayurvedic Hospital in Shalimar Bagh. Their fathers had gone to work on Sunday afternoon, and the two children decided to go for a swim around 4 pm. The boys were unable to get out due to the strong water current and drowned,” a police officer said.
“A PCR call regarding the incident was received at 10.17 pm. The boys were shifted to BJRM Hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival,” DCP (Northwest) Bhisham Singh said.

The Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a man from Hapur in Uttar Pradesh in connection with the theft of a gold and diamond-studded ‘kalash (ritual vessel)’ worth around Rs 1 crore, which was stolen from a religious event held in a park near the Red Fort, an official said.
The accused, Bhushan Verma, was arrested by a team from the Crime Branch late Sunday night, the official said, adding he has been further questioned.
Police had said the theft took place during a Jain religious event, organised by the Jain Parv Pandal in the 15 August Park, that was attended by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The ritual pot disappeared from the stage amid the rush during the ceremonial welcome.
