The Delhi Police on Thursday arrested a history-sheeter who allegedly orchestrated an armed robbery at the house of the sister of his former ‘partner in crime’ in an act of revenge.
The police have also nabbed four of his aides who broke into the woman’s house in Anand Parbat and fled with Rs 25 lakh from their hideout in Ghaziabad. They have been identified as Ishu, Rahul, Bobby, and Sachin, while a search is on for another person in the gang, a minor, who held the woman at gunpoint, the police said.
The police said the prime accused, Manish, 27, masterminded the burglary on April 30 following a fallout with Jitender, with whom he had associated in an attempt to murder case in 2018.
According to the police, five men stormed into Jitender’s sister’s house around 8 pm, threatened her with a gun, locked her up in a room, and fled with Rs 25 lakh in cash. The person who held the country-made pistol was a juvenile who is still on the run, said an officer.
“A team led by Inspector Satender Mohan and ACP Ramesh Lamba got a tip-off about the hideout of the accused. The raid was conducted at Sudamapuri, Ghaziabad, and Haibatpur, Gautam Budh Nagar in UP, and the accused Manish with his accomplices was nabbed,” Aditya Gautam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), said.
During interrogation, Manish, who has 27 cases against him including that of rape, said that he roped in Ishu after a scuffle with Jitender to exact revenge. Ishu then arranged a band of people he thought could pull it off, the police said.
“On the day of the incident, Ishu, Bobby, Sachin, and the juvenile met Manish, who showed them the house of the victim. The accused juvenile was carrying a country-made pistol. They entered the house at about 8 pm on April 30 and executed the armed robbery before fleeing,” DCP Gautam said.
According to the police, Jitender had beaten up Manish in 2024, and since then, the latter had been waiting for an opportunity to take revenge on him.
