Delhi cop killed in hit-and-run: American business services exec arrested
Police said the Honda Amaze driver, Siddharth Sharma, a resident of Vatika India Next in Gurgaon’s Sector 82, fled the spot and was arrested Wednesday.

A day after a sub-inspector on patrol was killed in a hit-and-run on National Highway 9, police have arrested the car driver, a 39-year-old senior executive at an American business services company in Gurgaon, in connection with the case.
The accident took place in East Delhi’s Pandav Nagar police station area around 5.30 am Tuesday. SI Gangrasaran (54) and ASI Ajay were on patrol duty when they stopped a Bolero pickup truck. The sub-inspector got down to inspect the truck and was standing with the driver when a Honda Amaze came and hit the two men. The impact was such that the car was completely damaged. Gangasaran died at the hospital while the truck driver, Ram Gopal, is undergoing treatment.

DCP (East) Amrutha Guguloth said Sharma was coming back from Meerut and was under the influence of alcohol. “During the investigation, we found he was speeding when he hit the two men. We arrested him after several raids. He has been booked for rash driving and causing death by negligence,” said the DCP.
Police said Sharma works as a senior executive at Concentrix, located in DLF Cyber City. He lives with his wife and two children- a son and a daughter. Police said he is an MBA pass-out from IPM-Pallavpuram, Meerut.
“He was coming back home from a function in Meerut. He left at night and was drunk at the time of the offence. We are checking if he was with other people in the car,” said an officer.
Gangasaran was posted in the East District and is survived by his wife and their five children. He joined the force in 1986 and was involved in G20 security arrangements at Bharat Mandapam and ITO area.
