Delhi cab driver arrested for masturbating while ferrying student to DU campus

According to the police, the 22-year-old woman, who hails from Bengaluru, booked a cab from Model Town around 9 am as she was getting late for her classes.

“The woman said in her statement that when the cab arrived, the driver initially insisted that she sit at the front, alongside him. But the woman declined and sat at the back,” a police officer said.

He added that as the ride commenced, the accused started making lewd comments at the woman and then allegedly started masturbating by looking at her from the rear-view mirror.

“As the woman kept screaming and asking the driver to stop the vehicle, the accused kept on driving. He finally stopped the car at the university, and the woman rushed out of the vehicle,” the officer said.

The police officer said that the woman narrated the incident to her friends, who then took her to the Maurice Nagar police station. The police filed a First Information Report (FIR) under the relevant sections and launched an investigation.

“The cab has been seized, and forensic and crime teams are examining the vehicle. We are also giving counselling to the woman,” the officer said.

On July 5, 2022, a British woman faced a similar ordeal when a cab driver started masturbating while she was in the passenger’s seat in the Delhi Cantonment area. In another incident on September 18, 2018, a cab driver masturbated while dropping a woman off at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
