With a few months to go before the Delhi Assembly polls, the Aam Aadmi Party Sunday kicked off its ‘Aapka Vidhayak, Aapke Dwar (Your MLA at your doorstep)’ campaign.

According to senior party leader Dilip Pandey, the campaign aims to reach people and talk to them about their problems and also about the work done by the AAP government over the past four years.

On Sunday, meetings were held in Shalimar Bagh, Bawana, Palam, Mehrauli, Sultanpuri, Bijwasan, Kondli, Vikaspuri, Madipur and Timarpur, AAP said in a statement.

Pandey added that as part of the campaign, the organisational structure was being re-evaluated as part of the campaign and party workers’ conferences have been organised in 65 out of 70 assembly constituencies of Delhi.

“The state vice president, organisation secretary, district president, district secretary, and party workers were present at each meeting. About 200-400 workers were present at almost every party workers’ conference. Apart from this, booth-wise meetings will also be held by the in-charge and zonal president of each ward of the assembly in the coming days,” he said.

“The AAP has started this campaign because conversing directly with Delhiites was more effective in the areas where AAP contested during the last Lok Sabha elections. Therefore, to end the communication gap, this campaign has been started on a war footing, which we will complete by the end of this month,” he added.

AAP Delhi Vice-President Kuldeep Kumar said the idea of the campaign is to listen to people’s problems firsthand and tell them about work such as 24-hour free electricity, water facilities, education, health, free bus travel for women, pilgrimage for the elderly, among others.
