Maintaining that risk assessment and preparedness can mitigate effects of disasters to a great extent,the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) is planning to set up a disaster alert centre,which will alert all stakeholders via SMS or wireless calls in case of an eventuality.
T he DDMA officials said in case of a disaster accidents,wall collapse,building collapse,gas leaks,etc the disaster alert centre would send SMS alerts to all stakeholders like police,fire brigades,ambulances,deputy commissioners of municipalities,administration,disaster management and registered volunteers to respond as quickly as possible.
The disaster alert centre will send text messages to all stakeholders as soon as an eventuality occurs. This can include situations like building collapse,chemical leaks,road accident,fire in a building or a flyover collapse, DDMA Secretary Dharampal said. The official said the centre would be made operational soon.
