A Class XII student of PG DAV Senior Secondary School reportedly sustained ear injuries after he was allegedly beaten up by his political science teacher. The boy was reportedly spotted completing his English homework during a political science class, which angered the teacher, who slapped the student. The beating led to severe injuries and the left ear drum of the student was ruptured.
The incident was reported from West Patel Nagar on August 3. The teacher caught the student completing English homework during his (political science) class. The teacher reportedly threw the students notebook away. When the student told him that his notebook had torn,it enraged the teacher, who then started abusing the student and slapped him, a senior police officer said.
We received a complaint from the family of the student stating that he was beaten up by his political science teacher. The student is in Class XII. We have registered a case at Patel Nagar police station. We are investigating the case and school authorities will be contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Alok Kumar said.
SK Verma, the principal of the school, told Newsline that the school had received the complaint and was looking into the matter. I have never received any such complaint against the teacher. Scolding a student is sometimes needed and he must have just scolded him. I highly doubt that the teacher hit him so hard that his eardrum got ruptured. We will, however, conduct an internal enquiry into the matter, Verma said.
