SUIT: The most popular wardrobe staple just got mutated and draped. Mumbai-based designer Narendra Kumar gave a cowl-necked look to the basic black suit, elbow patches emerged on designer duo Rohit and Abhishek Kamras beige blazers while jackets were belted at the waist. Troy Costa, whose rakish one-button tuxedos found many a discerning buyer, says,This season, the emphasis is on the manly man. So the silhouettes are strong and sharp and the colours bold.
JUMPSUIT: Its far out, exceedingly unwearable, zipped up and doesnt fall in the regular menswear category. Yet most of the designers interspersed their collection with jumpsuits. Samant Chauhan sent his model zipped up in a dusty brown jumpsuit. Even Narendra Kumars seemingly masculine collection inspired by Japanese samurai warriors featured a black jumpsuit, nipped at the waist with a drawstring. I think it is a little far out in terms of a silhouette. But sometimes designers decide to let go and do crazy things, laughed designer Nida Mahmood, post Chauhans show. But Chauhan is adamant. Several boys out there are looking for outre pieces, he shrugs.
ROLLED UP TROUSERS: This is by far the easiest trend to digest. Trousers rolled up about an inch or two above the ankles is the latest style trend on New Yorks streets. The unintentional cropped pants, the latest styling trend, seems to have hit Indian shores too. At the VHIMW,models hitched up their trousers during designer Ashish Sonis retro show which married checks with muted mossy greens and mauve tones. Likewise, designers Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna of the label Cue rolled their trousers up,walking down with a jaunty air and swinging man bags when they emerged on the catwalk to take a bow after their show. Its an unpretentious, casual look that one can carry off with a slouchy sweater or a jacket and a pair of bright sneakers, said Ajjampur.
Cropped Pants: The casual shorts is now officially a chic fashion statement. You may choose to call them chic or disown them, but these cropped pants seems to be a fashion staple for the season. A t designer Ashish Sonis shows, the formal trousers were snipped and teamed with flamboyant ties and a jacket. Newly-turned designer Karan Johar went hippie chic, trussing his models in white cotton half pants and beige jackets. Manoviraj Khoslas cruise collection looked perfect for the beach a model strutted in a white shirt, red knee length pants and tan sandals. If you are thinking resort, you already know what to pack.
