Delhi Police head constable Rajbir Singh,who was a part of the Special Cell team involved in the gunbattle with alleged terrorists in Batla House last year,was cremated at his village in Outer Delhi. Singh died in an accident on Wednesday morning while returning from Lucknow,where he had gone with a Special Cell team for probe into the Delhi serial blasts case. Rajbir,who had been awarded with the Presidents Police Medal in 2009,was killed after the vehicle carrying the team crashed into a tree in Uttar Pradeshs Lakhimpur district.
Singhs body was cremated in Phudkhurd village in Outer Delhi. Fellow policemen and senior officers were present at the funeral.
Singh had gone to Lucknow in connection with the arrest of Shehzad,a suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorist who was allegedly involved in the 2008 Delhi serial blasts case and the Batla House encounter.
