The body of a 16-year-old Class XI student of Rajkiya Inter College in Noida was found hanging from a tree near Noida Stadium on Friday morning.
“The body of the boy was hanging 20 feet above the ground. Passers-by alerted police after coming across the body in the morning,” a police officer said. Prime facie, it appears to be a case of suicide, police said.
The boy is survived by his parents, four brothers and a sister.
“The post mortem report indicates a suicide. There were no other marks on the body and no suicide note was found. It appears that he was depressed after having failed his Class XI examination. On Thursday, he left for school but did not appear for his re-examination which was scheduled for the afternoon,” an officer said.
Family members, however, alleged foul play. The boy’s father said his son never complained about anything bothering him.
“He was the fourth among the children. He loved painting and dancing, and often taught the children in the building. I do not believe he committed suicide because he failed in the examination,” he said. No case has been registered so far. The body was cremated on Friday evening.
