Overturning an order by its single-judge bench,the Delhi High Court on Wednesday allowed filmmaker Prakash Jha to use the song Mehngai in his upcoming film Chakravyuh.

NEW DELHI: Overturning an order by its single-judge bench,the Delhi High Court on Wednesday allowed filmmaker Prakash Jha to use the song Mehngai in his upcoming film Chakravyuh. A division bench of Justice Pradeep Nandrajog and Justice Manmohan Singh stayed the previous order that restrained Jha from releasing the song that has references to shoe manufacturer Bata,which had moved court alleging that the song was defamatory. The division bench said: “We do not find that in the contextual setting or background of the movie,the song or its stanza is defamatory and be prima facie derogatory to Bata.”

Extra fee from disabled: HC wants answer

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked the city government to respond to a petition accusing a private school of charging excess fees from students with physical disabilities in comparison to general students. A bench of Chief Justice D Murugesan and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw issued notice to the Directorate of Education and to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mehta Vidyalaya,seeking their replies by November 21. The court was hearing a PIL,which alleged that the school on KG Marg has been charging over 38 per cent extra fees from students with disabilities.
