Two Class XII students of Carmel Convent School who resisted an attempt to snatch their chains were attacked with a blade in Chanakyapuri on Tuesday morning.

Two Class XII students of Carmel Convent School who resisted an attempt to snatch their chains were attacked with a blade in Chanakyapuri on Tuesday morning.

Tanvi Manchanda (16) and her friend Ridhika Bhasin (17) were on their way to school from the Dharma Marg Market,where they had come to get some photostats,when they were accosted by a man who tried to snatch their chains and earrings,the police said. However,when the girls started shutting,the assailant slashed their arms with a blade and fled with the Rs 500 one of them was holding,they added. Soon after,the police rushed them to RML where they were given 35 stitches each.

Tanvi is a resident of Civil Lines Colony in Gurgaon while Ridhika lives in East of Kailash.

ACP (New Delhi) Shankar Dash said a case has been registered and a sketch was being prepared to nab the culprit.

Jeweller ‘flees’ with diamonds of Rs 50 lakh
Rakesh Saigal,owner of Sri Siddharth Exports in Ashoka Hotel,has lodged a report with the police alleging that a jeweller,Ravi Raj,fled with his diamonds worth over Rs 50 lakh. Saigal’s employee had visited Raj’s shop Riddhi Siddhi Exports in Karol Bagh on Tuesday to get the diamonds cut and polished. Soon,Raj went out and did not come back,the complaint said. Police are investigating the matter.
