MCD’s Leader of Opposition Jai Kishan Sharma on Thursday asked the Lieutenant-Governor to cancel the tenders awarded to contractors of parking lots for a number of sites due to corruption. His letter said many contractors,who had applied at higher rates for Asaf Ali Road Underground,Meena Bazar,PVR Naraina,Tilak Nagar Market,Sunder Nagar and Rani Bagh Market parking lots,had complained that tenders which they had deposited were intentionally removed and they were kept out of competition to award the contracts to others. He said the irregularities were being raised in the meetings of the Standing Committee,but to no avail.

Walia calls for action against erring doctors

Health Minister Kiran Walia on Thursday asked the authorities of the Sushruta Trauma Centre and Lok Nayak Hospital to initiate disciplinary action against doctors allegedly involved in the death of an accident victim in the early hours of November 30. Rambhor,a 50-year-old accident victim from Azadpur market,was shifted between three different hospitals in a span of five hours before he succumbed to injuries. “The minister has said that the doctors who saw the patient initially but failed to take appropriate professional measures will be suspended pending a detailed inquiry into their conduct,” a ministry official said.
