MCD school student drowns in tank
A Class IV student of an MCD primary school died after falling into a water tank at a private construction site in northwest Delhi on Tuesday. Lalit Kumar was returning home from his school at Kakrola in Najafgarh when the mishap occurred,the MCD said in a statement. The police found the body of the student this morning and are investigating into the matter. Director (Primary Education) has also been asked to conduct an inquiry and submit a report at the earliest, the statement said. MCD officials and teachers visited the parents and offered their condolences.
DIAL working to solve baggage delays
Delhi International Airport (DIAL) on Tuesday claimed the delay in baggage retrieval at Indira Gandhi International Airports Terminal 3,which incidentally has a state-of-art inline baggage system,has been solved to some extent. With many passengers missing connecting flights due to the long delays,the Ministry of Civil Aviation had inspected the terminal on Monday. The ministry team concluded that along with the technical issues with the machinery,the number of ground handling staff was insufficient and most of them were not trained to using sophisticated equipment. Human trafficking: Police rescue minor girl
A 13-year-old girl from Mumbai was rescued by the police who arrested a man who was allegedly forcing her into prostitution,on Tuesday. The girl was brought to the city by Ahmed Ansari,a barber,with the intention of selling her to a pimp in GB Road,the police said. An NGO alerted the police about this leading to the rescue of the girl.
Man suffers burns,kin call it honour crime
A 29-year-old man suffered 90 per cent burns after being allegedly set ablaze by his brothers-in-law in Dallupura area of East Delhi on Monday night. The family of the victim,who is in a critical state,however,alleged it was an honour crime. The police said victim Rajesh Negi,a resident of the Khichripur,had married Bhawna Yadav (25),who belongs to a different caste,at a city court in January this year. However,the police said that prima facie it appeared as if Rajesh had accidentally set himself ablaze. P3
