Minister wants chief engineers to vouch for project viability
Finance Minister Dr A K Walia,in an apparent bid to stop constructions,has made it mandatory for chief engineers of projects to sign a personal undertaking claiming the work is justified in order to secure financial clearance. The Public Works Department,which manages most of the state government’s road projects,has revolted against the order,with engineers having compiled a detailed note of objection. P2

Temporary roof falls at Yamuna Sport Complex
The temporary roof of the table tennis court at the Yamuna Sports Complex collapsed after the rain on Monday evening. Sources said the lack of complete roofing and a proper drainage system at complex also resulted in partial flooding of the hall and show court area.
