MLA stopped at IGI with ammunition
New Delhi: A Rae Bareli legislative Assembly member,R K Sharma,was caught at the Delhi airport with 22 live rounds of ammunition,before he was to board a SpiceJet flight to Jammu on Saturday. The live ammunition,of .38 calibre,was detected by the DIAL screeners,while checking Sharmas check-in baggage at Terminal 1D. Sharma was carrying a valid Arms licence,but he had not declared the ammunition at the check-in counter. Sharma was let off by the security agencies,though he missed his 2 pm flight.
GPS in autos: HC relief for 200 drivers
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday stayed a governments notification demanding Rs 15,000 from auto drivers for installation of global positioning systems (GPS) in their vehicles. Justice Indermeet Kaur,in an interim order,stayed the governments decision till May 27 which happens to be the next date of hearing. As many as 200 auto-rickshaw drivers had challenged the notification in court. The court,however,clarified that the order would be applicable only for the drivers who approached it.
