Ceiling fan falls during exam at DU’s Hansraj college, student injured
“We understand that these are old buildings, but it is sad they don’t want to consider a student's well-being,” Samaa, who recently gave her final-semester exams at the college, said.

A student was injured allegedly after a ceiling fan fell during an internal exam at Delhi University’s Hansraj College earlier this week, leading to a protest by students.
Students claimed the incident took place in a classroom when first-year B.Com (Hons) students were taking an internal exam Wednesday, following which they staged protests demanding accountability from the college administration.
Hansraj College Principal, Dr Rama, remained unavailable for comment.
“Last year, concrete fell from the ceiling while a teacher was teaching… These incidents must not be ignored; the college must conduct regular inspections before a major accident occurs,” claimed Puneet Parshotam, a third-year student at Hansraj College.
“We understand that these are old buildings, but it is sad they don’t want to consider a student’s well-being,” Samaa, who recently gave her final-semester exams at the college, said.
Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest, highlighting the incident and other infrastructural issues.
Student body president of Hansraj College, Ashwani Yadav, later said the protest was called off because the principal had agreed to pay for the injured student’s medical expenses.
“… The principal has promised to audit electronic appliances every month so such an event does not happen again, which is why we have stopped protesting,” claimed Rohit Sharma, an ABVP member.
