When 11-year-old Ashu ran away from his gurukul to meet his mother,he did not know he would uncover events that would lead the police to find that his mother was murdered.
Nisha,31,who usually visited Ashu every month, had not come to see him since January. Concerned,Ashu scaled the walls of his Faridabad-based hostel on May 20 and hitchhiked a ride to his Khirki Extension home.
He found the door of his house locked from outside. He then went to his aunts house in Dakshinpuris DDA flats. She,too, said she had not seen Nisha for some time. After enquiring with other relatives, the boy approached the Malviya Nagar police, police said. A case under Section 365 (kidnapping) was registered.
A probe revealed Nisha had been living with one Nitish Kumar,36,in Swastik Apartments at Khirki Extension. The police first picked up Nitishs neighbour Mohit for questioning.
During interrogation,Mohit reportedly confessed Nitish had murdered Nisha in January and they had disposed of her body. The police then arrested Nitish. The case was converted to murder on Saturday and the duo was produced in court, which remanded them in police custody.
Nitish claimed he had married Nisha last year and that she was unfaithful. They had an argument on January 8 and in a fit of anger,he strangled her, the officer said. The duo told police they had disposed Nishas body in Hindon,Ghaziabad.
