After the Maruti Eeco van allegedly hit the bike from behind, the father and son were taken to Indira Gandhi Hospital, where the child was declared dead on arrival.
The Dwarka North police station received information about the accident and reached the spot, where a few bystanders were beating up a man. He was identified as Deepak, 27, the driver of the van.
The police said they apprehended the accused and are awaiting the medical report to confirm whether he was drunk or not.
“The crime team did an inspection and lifting of exhibits from the spot. The vehicles involved in the accident have been seized as per Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
Based on information, medico-legal certificates, and a scene inspection, a case has been registered under sections 106(1) (death by negligence), 125(A) (rash act endangering life), and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the police said.
