BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri stirs up controversy again, says Atishi ‘running around like a hirni’
Ramesh Bidhuri filed his nomination for the Kalkaji seat, where he is up against CM Atishi and Congress’s Alka Lamba in the Delhi Assembly elections.

Ramesh Bidhuri, the BJP candidate in Kalkaji for the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls, stirred up controversy again on Wednesday with a comment about his competitor for the seat, AAP nominee and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi.
During a public address, Bidhuri likened Atishi to a hirni (doe).
“Chaar saal se log nark bhog rahe hain… Ab jab chaar mahine chunav main reh gaye, toh Atishiji in galiyon main jaise jungle main hirni bhaagti phirti hai, vaise bhaagti phir rahi hai. (For four years, people have been living in hellish conditions… When there were four months to go for the elections, Atishi ji has been running around like a doe runs in the jungle),” he said.
Bidhuri had come under fire a week earlier after he attacked Atishi for “changing” her surname from Marlena to Singh. He made the comments minutes before Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Rohini’s Japanese Park for a pre-election rally.
“Marlena has become Singh… She has changed her father. She was Marlena earlier, but has become Singh now,” he had said.
The former MP also made a comment about Priyanka Gandhi the week before that.
“Lalu (Prasad Yadav) ne kaha tha Bihar main ki Bihar ki sadkon ko main Hema Malini ji ke gaalon jaisi bana dunga. Lalu ne jhoot bola tha. Nahi bana paaya. Lekin main aapko vishwas dilata hoon, kaise Okhla ki sadkein humne bana di hain, Sangam Vihar ki bana di hain, isi tarah, Kalkaji… ki saari ki saari sadkein, Priyanka Gandhi ke gaal jaisi zaroor bana denge. (Lalu said in Bihar, he would make roads as smooth as Hema Malini’s cheeks. Lalu lied; he couldn’t do it. But I assure you, just like we improved roads in Okhla and Sangam Vihar, we will definitely make all roads in Kalkaji as smooth as Priyanka Gandhi’s cheeks),” he had said.
Later, tagging BJP president J P Nadda, Delhi in-charge Baijayant Panda and Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, he wrote on social media, “Some people are making statements on social media for political gain with a wrong perception based on a statement given by me in some context. My intention was not to insult anyone. But still, if anyone has been hurt, then I express my regret.”
Bidhuri, who filed his nomination on Wednesday, is up against Atishi and the Congress’s Alka Lamba.
