The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) plans to launch a protest on April 9,when the court delivers its verdict in the riots case against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler. Reacting to the CBIs clean chit to Tytler, leader of Opposition Vijay Kumar Malhotra said: The report proves the investigating agencys connivance with the accused. CBI should be renamed as Congress Bureau of Investigation.
Members of the BJP and the Akali Dal staged a joint protest outside the Karkardooma court where the CBI presented its report and later in front of 10,Janpath,the residence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Why is the CBI absolving Tytler of all charges? They might as well say that no riot took place in 1984,and that 2,000 people were not mercilessly killed, said Delhi BJP general secretary R P Singh.
A few senior leaders were, however,a little guarded in their comments. It will be too early to comment since the court has not given its verdict yet , said B L Sharma Prem, the BJP candidate from North-East Delhi who will be fighting against Tytler. Jagdish Mukhi, the partys candidate from West Delhi, which has the biggest Sikh population in Delhi, too, refrained from making a comment.
