Bhondsi jail to get 14 jammers

The contract of these jammers will be first experimented in the prisons of Haryana followed by prisons in Delhi and NCR

Bhondsi jail, where at least 150 mobile phones were found hidden in the last few months, will have 14 new jammers by the end of the financial year, Parminder Rai, Director General of Prisons, Haryana, said Friday.

Speaking at the launch of Vertical Interaction Programme, a two-day training session for senior prison officials across Haryana and NCR, Rai said, “The contract of these jammers will be first experimented in the prisons of Haryana followed by prisons in Delhi and NCR.”

Rai also spoke about cashless facility being introduced in the prisons, except in Panipat, Rewari and Palwal.

Under this facility, an inmate can purchase any product using his or her thumb print and can also avail the balance in his account.
