Reminiscing her days as an IPS officer, BJP CM candidate Kiran Bedi on Tuesday told a gathering of about 200 people in Najafgarh that she knew how to get work done. Bedi also targeted her AAP opponent Arvind Kejriwal for not knowing “policing”. “I got no extra police when I was an IPS officer but I still managed law and order so well,” she said. “Mujhe ata tha kaam karana. Aur maine hamesha imandari se kaam kiya. Beimani nahi thi mere DNA mein (I knew how to get work done. And I always worked honestly. There’s no dishonesty in my DNA).” [related-post] Targeting Kejriwal, she added, “Usko policing nahi aati. Sirf bhagna aata hai. Dhoondega PM kahan khade hain. Unko chunoti doon. (He doesn’t know policing. He only knows how to run away. He will look for the PM to contest against him.)” She asserted that curbing increasing crime in Najafgarh was her priority and promised to hold surprise checks in police stations if she came to power. “Aapki problem mere liye asaan hai. Mushkil nahi hai. SHO ko achanak aake poocha karungi ki records dikhao sab criminals ke. Hawa nikaalni aati hai mujhe. Bahoton ki nikaali hai (Your problem is easy for me, not difficult. I will come suddenly and ask the SHO to show me the crime records. I know how to set people right; have set many of them right.)” Apart from law and order, Bedi also touched upon two other critical local issues. Urging the public to educate daughters and treat them equally, she said her parents had educated all their four daughters. “Give your daughters the dowry of education. Jitna padna chahti hain, padhne do (Let your daughters study as much as they want).” She also promised to promote sports facilities, including a stadium, for the local youth. “I have been a national player. I understand the importance of sports in a student’s life and will promote it wholeheartedly,” she said.
