Basketball tournament comes to nail-biting end

April 23 was the deciding day of the Quest ONGC Inter-School Basketball Tournament,organised by Quest — The Indian Express Schools’ Initiative at the Delhi Public School- RK Puram basketball courts

April 23 was the deciding day of the Quest ONGC Inter-School Basketball Tournament,organised by Quest — The Indian Express Schools’ Initiative at the Delhi Public School- RK Puram basketball courts.

After the preliminary matches played by 16 teams on April 20 and 21,we had eight teams that played the quarterfinals on April 22.

In the quarters,Blue Bells School International beat Mother Teresa Public School in a spectacular match with the score 55/7,DPS-Mathura Road beat Ramjas School with 56/32,DPS-RK Puram defeated Apeejay School,Saket,in a very interesting game with 29/25 and Modern School,Vasant Vihar,beat Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan with 22/10 to enter the semi finals.

The four teams that played in the semi-finals were Blue Bells School International,East of Kailash,Delhi Public School-Mathura Road,Delhi Public School-RK Puram and Modern School,Vasant Vihar.

The teams qualifying for the finals were Delhi Public School Mathura Road and Delhi Public School RK Puram.

D P S-Mathura Road took home the trophy in a spectacular match with a score of 42 baskets against 27 baskets by Delhi Public School-RK Puram.

The third and fourth positions were bagged by Blue Bells School Internatinal,East of Kailash and Modern School,Vasant Vihar respectively.

The function was presided over by Professor C Raj Kumar,Vice-Chancellor,OP Jindal Global University and Mohit Bhandari,coach of the Indian basketball team.

Also present among the dignitaries were Dr DR Saini,principal of Delhi Public School,RK Puram,members of the Delhi Basketball Federation,Rajiv Jaitly of The Indian Express and Mr Alok Srivastava,head of sales and distribution.

Prof C Raj Kumar and Mohit Bhandari handed over the trophies and certificates to the winning teams,along with the medals.

The Quest Team also thanked Prof C Raj Kumar and Dr D R Saini for encouraging the students and also expressed their deep appreciation to the members of the Delhi Basketball Federation for their support.
