Neighbours overdraw,power cuts in Delhi: CM
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday again blamed the neighbouring states for overdrawing power from the Northern Grid. This,she pointed out,is the cause for loadshedding in the Capital. This is not the first time that the CM has raised this issue. In April,she had requested Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to direct states like Haryana,Uttar Pradesh,and Punjab to follow grid discipline by refraining from overdrawing.
Morning walker helps arrest snatchers
A morning walker on Sunday helped the police arrest two snatchers who were fleeing with a boys mobile phone in Central Delhis Baljeet Nagar,the police said. Near Khera Hospital,Ram Kumar saw the snatching and chased the two accused and caught them with the help of the public. The accused have been identified as Deva (21) and Balwant (21) of Kathputli Colony. They used to steal music systems from parked vehicles and target cars parked in Patel Nagar and Ranjit Nagar, an official said.
Youth held for robbing photographer
The New Delhi police have arrested the son of a businessman for allegedly robbing a freelance photographer of his wallet and mobile phone in Connaught Place on May 25. Police said Deepak Kumar was on his scooter when three men in a Santro car intercepted him and took his valuables. However,Kumar had noted the car number,using which the police traced the vehicle and arrested Sagar,the son of a businessman in Gopal Park area of Preet Vihar. Sagar reportedly told the police that one of his friends planned the robbery as they needed money that day. The police sources said the accused has been sent in judicial custody and search is on for his friends.
