A Delhi Court has asked the medical officer of Tihar jail to appear before it on June 7 after gangster Munna Bajrangi filed an application saying he wanted to be treated at AIIMS. The jail authorities had said the accused,who suffered from systemic hypertension and high blood pressure,was being treated at GB Pant and RML Hospital,and denied he fell unconscious on May 27 as he claimed. The authorities further submitted they cannot rule out future complications as Bajrangi suffers from high blood pressure. Bajrangi,charged under the MCOCA along with Uttar Pradesh’s Independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari,had filed an application in the court on May 31 stating his health was deteriorating and he needed to be treated at AIIMS. The court also fixed July 9 as the date for hearing the matter relating to framing of charges against Bajrangi and others.

Barapullah Road to miss July deadline
Barapullah Drain Road,the 3.7-km elevated road between Sarai Kale Khan and Jawaharlal Nehru Marg,may miss its deadline. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit visited the upcoming road,which is among the many Games projects,and expressed her unhappiness with its progress on Thursday. While the road had to be completed by July 31,officials accompanying the CM said the project would only be ready by August. Sources said the contractor also asked the PWD an additional Rs 60 crore under various heads. “The CM has insisted that the project should first be completed in time and such demands would only be considered later,” the source said.

Water supply to be affected on Sunday
Water supply will be affected in several areas of the Capital on Sunday due to a planned shutdown of a water pipeline in Yamuna Bazar to carry out maintenance work. In South Delhi water supply will be affected in Malviya Nagar,Defence Colony,Greater Kailash I/II,Andrews Ganj,South Extension,Chirag Delhi,Alaknanda Complex,Masjid Moth and adjoining areas,a Delhi Jal Board release said. Other areas that will be affected are Chandni Chowk,Daryaganj,Lok Nayak Hospital,Kashmere Gate,Mori Gate,Ajmeri Gate,Nirankari Colony,Gandhi Vihar and Mukherjee Nagar.

Bike-borne assailants snatch Rs 1.8 lakh
Ghaziabad: Employees of a water testing lab were looted on Ambedkar road while they were on their way to office after withdrawing Rs 1.8 lakh from a bank. The motorcycle-borne assailants first hit their scooter,injuring both of them,said the police. According to the complainants,the pillion rider of the motorcycle quickly picked up the scooter and fled with it. The cash was in a bag kept in the scooter.

World-class motor testing facility at Manesar
Chandigarh: Manesar in Gurgaon will soon have a world-class test-ride facility for four-wheelers spread on a 46.29-acre land made available by the Haryana State Industries and Infrastrucure Development Corporation. The National Automotive Testing and Research and Development Infrastructure Project will be developed for Rs 500 crore. The plan is part of the International Centre for Automotive Technology project under the Union Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
