New Delhi:Twenty-one BJP legislators were on Wednesday suspended for the remaining monsoon session of the Delhi Assembly for disrupting proceedings,while accusing Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit of corruption. On Wednesday,as soon as Dikshit started reading a statement at the end of the Question Hour rejecting allegations of Commonwealth Games graft,BJP legislators began protesting that Speaker Yoganand Shastri didn’t allow them a discussion on the issue on Tuesday. With the Speaker not responding to their protest,several BJP legislators trouped to the Well and began sloganeering,after which Shastri adjourned the House for 15 minutes. As the pandemonium continued when the House met again,transport Minister Ramakant Goswami moved a proposal for suspending Opposition MLAs for remaining period of the session,following which Shastri asked marshals to remove them from the House.

Funds for panchayats,urban bodies in Gurgaon

Gurgaon:Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies will get Rs 2,583 crore for taking up development works in accordance with recommendations of the 4th State Finance Commission during the current financial year. Chairman of 4th State Finance Commission L S M Salins made the announcement during a meeting with officers of Gurgaon Division at the mini-secretariat.

21-year-old gangraped,RPF cop,one other held

New Delhi:A 21-year-old woman was gangraped allegedly by two persons including,a Railway Police Force constable,early on Tuesday morning. The incident was reported from the dormitory of New Delhi Railway station,police said. The constable and a waiter from a restaurant of a railway station have been arrested. Police said that the victim approached them on Wednesday morning and gave an official complaint against the two. She was then taken to the hospital and a medical examination was conducted. “The medical examination confirmed rape,following which a case of rape was registered against RPF constable Pintu Kumar and Hawan Pratap,” a police officer said. The woman,police said is homeless and often slept in temples and gurudwaras in the area.

DJB,MCD to check on dirty water claim

New Delhi:The Delhi High Court on Wednesday directed the DJB and the MCD to examine the water supplied to the South Extension Part-I and ascertain if it was contaminated as feared by residents. On a plea by the residents,a bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Vipin Sanghi asked MCD and DJB officials to visit the locality and collect water samples and test them. The test report is to be filed within two weeks after getting the water tested.

Three arrested for fake money racket

New Delhi:The Special Cell has arrested three persons and busted a counterfeit money racket. Counterfeit notes valued at Rs 6.27 lakh were also recovered from their possession. Mohammed Ayub (31) and Vinod (32) were arrested from ISBT in Anand Vihar,after which their third associate Zaheer alias Javed was arrested from Malda in West Bengal.
