Light showers likely today: IMD
While the upper reaches of the Himalayas experienced heavy rain and snowfall,Wednesday remained dry and partly cloudy in Delhi and the National Capital Region. According to the Met department,Thursday might get a few spells of rain if the Western Disturbance affecting North India persists. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted on Tuesday that Delhi will not receive any more showers this winter. But noticing the eastward advance of the Western Disturbance,IMD has predicted light rain, especially towards the evening on Thursday.

MCD engineers’ stir to continue
The dharna by engineers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) at the MCD commissioner’s office next to Ambedkar Stadium is expected to continue on Thursday as well. The general secretary of the Forum of MCD Engineers A P Khan said some of their demands have been accepted but the “basic demand” of not deploying them for non-technical work has not been met. The engineers claimed a severe shortage of staff at the department has led to staff being directed to undertake non-technical duties, such as de-silting of nallahs.
