Help beaten,confined
A 23-year-old domestic help was allegedly beaten up and confined to a room by her employers in Mehrauli area,South Delhi. The police said they received a complaint from neighbours of Ikeli Rai Badua and her husband Aninda Rai Badua. The neighbours said they heard someone crying inside Badua’s residence since the past two days. The police then raided the house in Sridhar Apartments and found the victim,Rubina,tied up inside a room. The police said on November 5,Rubina was accused of stealing jewellery from the house and later she was allegedly beaten up and confined on November 7. A case was registered against the couple at the Mehrauli polices station and they were arrested.

Robbery in Seemapuri
Cash and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees was burgled from a house in Seemapuri area,Northeast Delhi,on Monday. The police said the complainant,Vijayan,told them that cash of Rs 45,000 and jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh was stolen from the house when no one was at the home. A case of burglary has been registered at the Seemapuri police station.

Man held for murder
A street vendor was arrested from Azadpur on Monday for allegedly murdering a woman with whom he was having a relationship. The vendor,Dhirender Singh,allegedly killed the woman,Samiksha,at her Tagore Garden residence on November 6 after an argument over her talking to other men,the police said. Singh had fled to his native village in Aligarh,UP,after the murder,but returned to take his father,who worked as a vegetable vendor at Azadpur Sabzi Mandi,with him,police said.

Suspect acquitted
A city court on Wednesday discharged Mohammed Ahsan Dar,a suspected aide of Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin,in a TADA case registered 18 years ago. The court’s order came after it accepted the closure report filed by the CBI. The CBI had sought closure of the case on the ground that no incriminating evidence could be collected against Dar during the probe. Dar,along with Salahuddin,was wanted in a case registered under TADA for allegedly abetting terror activities in the country.

Help commits suicide
NOIDA: A 17-year-old domestic help,working at the residence of a retired NTPC official,allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself with her dupatta from a ceiling fan. The deceased,Kumari Neetu,was a resident of Hardoi in UP. The police said Neetu was depressed. “Neetu’s stepfather had fixed her wedding,while she did not want to get married,” R K Saini,SHO,Sector-49 police station,said. The police said at the Neetu was alone at the residence of retired NTCP official S S Mediratta in Silver City Apartments,Sector 50,at the time of the incident. Neetu’s relatives,however,alleged that the girl had died under mysterious circumstances. The postmortem report will come in on Thursday,the police said.
