A 55-year-old man in Ghaziabad was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife with a sword after an argument over a delay in making tea on Tuesday morning, the police said.
The incident took place in Aurangabad Fazalgarh village, the police said, identifying the accused as Dharmveer, a daily wage worker, and the deceased as Sundari.
“During interrogation, the accused told the police that at around 6 am he had asked his wife to make tea. She took some time making it so he went to the terrace and asked her why it was taking so long,” a senior Ghaziabad police officer said.
“When she asked him why he was shouting, he got angry. In a fit of rage, he took out the sword kept inside the house and hit her several times on the head, due to which she died,” the officer added.
In his complaint, Sundari’s son Soldier said that when he and his sister tried to stop their father, he threatened them too by pointing the sword towards them.
