An Italian Wedding

Romance between Rani and Aditya has been making headlines for years now. However, the duo having tied the knot come as a shock to her fans back home.

Aditya Chopra’s relationship with Rani Mukerji, just as his own public persona, has long been shrouded in mystery: well established in film industry circles but never official and fiercely guarded from the media. Things had become more open in the recent past — actor Shatrughan Sinha mistakenly calling Mukerji a “Chopra” in an event commemorating Yash Chopra after his death in 2013.

Then there were rumours of their wedding in a Jodhpur palace in February. Though two months and a few thousand miles off the mark, the rumour mills seemed to have worked it out right with Bollywood’s premier movie mogul and one of its celebrated actresses finally tying the knot on Monday in Italy.

“I know that all my well-wishers who have waited for this day will be really happy for me. It was a beautiful wedding in the Italian countryside with just a few of our close family and friends with us,” said the statement issued by Mukerji, who described it as the “happiest day of her life”.

“I have always believed in fairy tales and with God’s grace my life has been exactly like one, and now as I enter the most important chapter of my life — the fairy tale continues,”said the 36-year-old actor, who made her foray into Bollywood in 1997’s Raja ki Aayegi Baraat.
