The 21-year-old, who was a first-year student of the institute and belonged to Sheikhpura in Bihar, was reportedly preparing for Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam.
Dr Dada said: “It has been decided that there will be two clinical psychologists for students pursuing this course.”A day after a 21-year-old B.Sc Nursing student at AIIMS Delhi allegedly committed suicide, her batchmates staged a protest outside the Director’s office, claiming that she had been humiliated for not clearing three papers in the exams.
After the protest by nearly 400 Nursing and Paramedical students who alleged that two teachers had harassed the woman, AIIMS PRO Dr Rima Dada said that the administration has asked them to share their grievances and that a committee that has been formed would look into the issues.
The 21-year-old, who was a first-year student of the institute and belonged to Sheikhpura in Bihar, was reportedly preparing for Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam.
She left a note which said that she was depressed due to her nursing studies and preparation for the BPSC exam, police said earlier.
“She was a happy-go-lucky girl. She… was studying hard to clear the exams… she was suffering from depression,” said a fellow student, adding that it was also difficult for the 21-year-old to study as the course material for nursing studies was in English as she was from a Hindi-medium background.
The B.Sc Nursing students, meanwhile, have issued a complaint addressed to the Director’s office, demanding suspension of the two teachers and sought a compensation of Rs 1 crore for the family of the deceased. Seeking a copy of the suicide note, they have also demanded changes in clinical duties at the earliest. On this, Dr Dada said they will have to comply with the government rules on compensation.
“It has also been decided that there will be two clinical psychologists for students pursuing this course,” Dr Dada added.
