Accused files bail plea, says relations consensual

A bail plea has been filed in a court on behalf of one of the accused Yasir Altaf, which claims he had a consensual relationship with one of the Dutch women.

A bail plea has been filed in a court on behalf of one of the accused Yasir Altaf, which claims he had a consensual relationship with one of the Dutch women.

To substantiate his claim,Altaf, who has been in judicial custody since June 26,shared some alleged “intimate emails and photographs” with the complainant. Arguing his case before the Additional Sessions Judge,Altaf’s counsel Sufian Siddiqui said his client had been “falsely implicated” and police had acted without verifying the claims of the complainant.

“The complainant is trying to take advantage of being a foreign national and extort money from the applicant (Altaf),” Siddiqui said.

The order has been reserved for Saturday.

“It was due to this intimacy that the complainant used to send emails to the applicant showing her love and affection towards the applicant and also her future plans about their relationship,” Siddqui said while presenting copies of the emails.

The counsel claimed that the emails suggested that the complainant had a “harmonious relationship” with Altaf and she was not cheated or extorted.

The counsel also drew the attention of the court to the emails received by Altaf from the complainant inviting him to visit Holland. “In an email sent on March 10,she wrote that the complainant was willing to enter into a matrimonial alliance with Altaf,” he said.
