A day after taking oath, newly appointed Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh directed the Special Secretary of the department to submit a report on the Aam Aadmi Party’s flagship mohalla clinics in a week. He directed that strict action should be taken if any corruption or loopholes are found.

After a meeting with health department officials, Singh said, “I held a meeting on mohalla clinics and have given special instructions to the special secretary health and other officials to submit a report on the number of mohalla clinics that are functioning, how many are situated on Delhi government land and how many of them are running on rent; do the doctors come and work. In case they don’t, how are bills raised?”

“I believe 30-40% of these mohalla clinics never even open for the public… If we find any loopholes and corruption, action will be taken and the person concerned will be charged…,” he said.
