AAP launches student and youth wings

The AYW was launched at the East Patel Nagar party office

The AAP on Saturday launched its youth wing AAP Youth Wing (AYW) and its students’ wing Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) on the occasion of Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s birth anniversary.

A party leader said, “The youth is a large part of the party’s support base. The wings will help channelise volunteers and mobilise resources during elections.”

The AYW was launched at the East Patel Nagar party office, which also saw a blood donation drive, while the CYSS was launched at Ghalib Insitute in Central Delhi.

Kejriwal said, “There is a saying that everybody wants Bhagat Singh to take birth, but only in the neighbour’s house, not in his own. The aim of the wing is to change this. When I passed out of IIT, I was thinking how could I help the country. Today, I give an opportunity to the youth to work for the country.”

Kejriwal said the party will contest elections in JNU, Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia next year. Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh will head the Delhi unit of the AYW,  while Sarita Singh will head the CYSS. It was announced that Kejriwal’s daughter Harshita, who gained admission to IIT-Delhi, would work for the CYSS in her college.
