The urban development department has proposed to digitise records of work undertaken in all unauthorised colonies. It has been suggested that to keep track, executive agencies such as DSIIDC, DJB, I&FC and municipal corporations put details of development work on their website, said sources.
The development work, leaving the areas earmarked by ASI or Delhi Development Authority (DDA), will be carried out after obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the respective agencies, said a government official. Outlining the process of development, the official said colonies where laying of roads will take three years, brick pavements will be provided; and where width of road is greater than 6 metre, bituminous roads will be provided.

“For those areas where laying of water and sewerage services are planned within a time of three years, brick pavements would be laid. If required, storm water drains would be covered with slabs of required strength. Executing agencies will furnish progress reports and utilisation certificates to the urban development, planning and finance departments on a monthly basis,” added the official.
Earlier this month, the Delhi cabinet approved the development work in unauthorised colonies. The cabinet decided to extend the development work to 1,797 colonies. Earlier, it was approved for 800-plus colonies only.
The government has approved a budget of Rs 800 crore for development work such as roads, street lights and storm water drains. In the last six years, Delhi government has spent approximately Rs 4,000 crore on development tasks in unauthorised colonies.
