In his statement to the police, the girl’s father has alleged that the incident took place when his wife was dropping their daughter off to school in Shahdara.
The driver was allegedly driving rashly and took a sharp turn near Maujpur Chowk when the vehicle overturned, crushing the girl underneath it, said police. “She was immediately taken to GTB Hospital by her mother, where the doctors declared her as brought dead,” said a senior officer.
The e-rickshaw driver is absconding, the officer added. A case under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita has been registered at Jafrabad police station.
